What's the best off-grid solar kit for a beginner?

There's no single "best" kit — it depends on what you want to power. What size generator do I need to run my house?

It depends on which loads must stay on at the same time. A typical 2,000 sq ft home with well pump, fridge, lights, and a few essentials needs roughly 5–10 kW of continuous power; add electric heat, a stove, or a clothes dryer and you're into 15–30 kW territory. How much money can a home wind turbine actually save me?

Honest answer: far less than the rated wattage suggests. A "500W" turbine only makes 500W in strong, steady wind — real-world output at typical residential sites is often a small fraction of the rating. LiFePO4 or lead acid — which battery is better for off-grid solar?

LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate), and it's not close for most people: roughly 4–6x the cycle life of lead acid, deeper usable discharge, no maintenance, and lighter per watt-hour. How do I size a solar system for a 2,000 sq ft house?

Start from your electric bill: divide monthly kWh by 30 for daily use, then divide by your area's peak sun hours to get the array size in watts. Should I get a portable power station or a gas generator?

Power stations are silent, indoor-safe, and maintenance-free, but hold a fixed amount of energy. Gas generators run as long as you have fuel, but they're loud, need ventilation, and want regular maintenance.
